TMCC seeking short term missionaries!

Short term ministry opportunities are now available annually at TMCC. The first short term openings are during the fall of 2011.

See here for more information about these opportunities.

And see here for financial information about short term ministries at TMCC.

“TMCC Partnership” fund set up in EFCCM

On Sep 28/2010, the EFCCM set up a special financial project for Tokyo Multicultural Church, called “TMCC Partnership.” The goal of this fund is $3100 per month over four years (2011-2015).

The fund will provide much of the initial funding for planting TMCC. Donations are invited from both churches and individuals. Contributions to this special project will be applied to initial ministry and facility expenses of TMCC. These are the kinds of expenses that a baby church particularly struggles with in the first years of its life.

For more information on how to donate to this special financial project, click here.

Tokyo Multicultural Church (TMCC) is featured in a June entry on the EFC of Canada Mission (EFCCM) blog. (Dale added some comments to the post.)

Hopefully, exposure like this will help us recruit church partners for this exciting church planting project.

The Sky Tree tower at the right is under construction in the target area for TMCC. It is scheduled for opening in spring 2012. The tower will be the world’s tallest free standing structure.

TMCC partners and planners

PARTNERS: We are now actively seeking overseas partners for TMCC. Overseas church partners have the option of sending short term personnel to Tokyo in order to join us in planting TMCC. For example, we are seeking interim pastors who can serve for about three months–perhaps pastors who are seeking a sabbatical. These kinds of overseas partners can become involved in the strategic planning for TMCC. Click here for more information about the commitment and involvement of overseas partners.

PLANNERS: We have formed a TMCC church planting planning committee, composed of MCC members, to carry on strategic planning while Dale and Ann Little take a one year home assignment (Aug/2010 – Sep/2011). The members of this committee will meet several times during that year. But most strategic meetings will take place virtually over the internet (e.g., skype) or by email.

MCC English Department votes to become the primary partner church of TMCC

On Sunday afternoon, June 6, the English Department congregation of Musashino Chapel Center (Tokyo Musashino Evangelical Free Church) voted unanimously to become the primary partner church of this Tokyo Multicultural Church church planting project. This is great news for TMCC! It will especially help in recruiting overseas church partners for this exciting new project.

The English Department congregation directed the English Council (English Department board) to develop ways of encouraging and supporting TMCC. One decision made by the English Council immediately after the congregational meeting was to form a “church planting committee” (name may be changed) to act as the link between MCC and TMCC, and to continue developing TMCC strategy.

Click on the following two links to learn more about what is meant by ”primary partner church.”

MCC English Department to vote about TMCC

On June 6, the English Department of MCC will decide whether to become the primary partner church for our new church planting project. The motion being brought to the English congregation by the English Council leadership team reads as follows:

Desiring to multiply churches to extend the gospel to all nations in Tokyo, including Japanese, and from Tokyo to all nations, the English Department of MCC will serve as the primary partner church for a multicultural church mission project in Tokyo led by Dale and Ann Little. The English Council is directed to develop ways of supporting and encouraging this mission project. Desiring to work closely with the Japanese Department, we will communicate to the best of our ability.

Church planting proposal presented to MCC Japanese Department deacons

On Sunday May 16, Dale was given the opportunity to share for 30 minutes with the Japanese Department Deacon Board of MCC about this church planting project. View his presentation here. Perhaps this project might eventually “be owned” by both the English and Japanese Departments of MCC, even though it is initiated by our English Department.

“Church Planting: Exploring Options” video

At the MCC English Department on May 2, Dale Little used a presentation called “Church Planting: Exploring Options” to describe the basic concept of TMCC. Input was invited from the English congregation. There was general enthusiasm for the TMCC church planting project, so it was decided that English Department members will vote on the church planting proposal at a congregational meeting set for June 6.

The discussion at the forum highlighted at least two issues that need further clarification: the definition of “mother church” (now changed to “primary church partner”) and the need to explain this project more widely in the Japanese Department of MCC.

Plucars begin pastoral ministry at MCC

Howard and Marilynn PlucarHoward and Marilynn Plucar began their pastoral ministry at the English Department of Musashino Chapel Center (MCC) on Feb 7, 2010. Dale and Ann Little were the interim pastoral couple from Nov/2007 – Jan/2010.

So from February through June 2010, the Littles, along with the Plucars and the MCC English Council (the leadership team of the English Department of MCC), will be casting vision for planting Tokyo Multicultural Church on the east side of Tokyo.
